Stone Cubbies Stone cubbies are perfect for housing your tumbled or raw crystals. No mass production here … each of our stone cubbies is made individually by local woodworker, John Wylie. Using select poplar, John handcrafts the frame and grid, and then places it on an oak or birch veneer plywood base. We carry many of his predesigned pieces, but John is happy to custom craft a cubbie to meet your specific requirements — from the outside dimensions (including depth), to the inside compartments. Custom cubbies can also be made with a lid.
Each frame is made using a traditional box joint. The grid is dry connected using a ˝-rabbit joint. All pieces are sanded and stained by hand. When hardware is used, it is covered with a wood peg. Custom joints are available – for instance, a heart shaped dovetail pin. When having custom work done you can select from any Minwax oil-based stain so that your new piece will blend beautifully with the furniture in your home.
We sell a wonderful blend of cleansing herbs to place in the cubbie for your favorite stones to rest on. Our customers have also discovered that these cubbies make a great home for jewelry.
