After you choose and clear your gemstone or crystal, it is important to dedicate it or program it. The purpose of programming a crystal or gemstone is to focus its abilities (therapeutic and metaphysical properties) on something you specifically need, thereby magnifying the stone's intent through your own. The purpose of dedicating the stone to a specific, high level healing energy is to focus its purpose. A crystal or stone that is programmed and dedicated in this way becomes more powerful and useful as a tool. This is a simple process. Simply hold the crystal or gemstone in your hand and sense its energy. With the stone being newly cleansed, the energy will feel stronger and even more appealing than before. As you sense this energy and appreciate it, clearly state your intent. Once a stone is programmed, it will hold its intent until you or someone else reprograms it.
I have a dear friend who is a gifted healer, writer, artist, and photographer. Additionally, she handcrafts crystal jewelry and is the owner of Aah Designs. She shared with me how she programs her crystals and I have adopted her practice. Here’s how it’s done:
Lay the crystal in one palm, and then circle the opposite palm over it as you state your intention for that crystal. You will probably start to feel a pull — as if the stone is communicating with you. After you’ve stated your intention several times (as many as feels right) very quietly whisper at the stone between your palms, as if you’re capturing the warm breath in there, then press the words into the stone with your palms. Hold your palms together with the stone in-between, feeling the energy generating. You are now done and can begin to use the stone.
‘Why would you talk to stones?’ you ask. This helps make things more "real." When you state your purpose aloud, it’s more energetic and present than when you state it in your head. Do not underestimate the power of vibration. When spoken aloud, your words suddenly spring to life. This energy resonates and becomes stronger as a result. The stronger the energy, the better the effect. And, you can hear in you own ears whether what you’ve stated is clear, concise, and for the highest and best good — that’s the goal.
