Lesson Survival. The right to exist. This energy center deals with tasks related to the material and physical world. It is about the ability to stand up for oneself and security issues.
Balanced Characteristics Good health, vitality, well grounded, comfortable in body, sense of trust in the world, feeling of safety and security, ability to relax and be still, stability, prosperity, and right livelihood.

The first chakra is the foundation of emotional and mental health. Emotional and psychological stability originate in the family unit and early social environment. Various mental illnesses are generated out of family dysfunctions, including multiple personalities, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, and destructive patterns like alcoholism.
