Internal cleansing through Colon Hydrotherapy

Grace Melby is the owner of Health Essentials in Harvard, Illinois and is a professional Colon Hydrotherapist. Colon Hydrotherapy (also known as Colonic Irrigation) is a therapy used to cleanse, maintain, and restore optimum colon health. It is a technique that cleanses the large intestine (colon) and sigmoid (lower bowel) of metabolic waste without the use of prescription medications or any other toxic agents.

During her presentation, Grace will share the details of this therapy, including the benefits associated with it. She will answer questions you may have and also help you determine if colon hydrotherapy could be of benefit to you. If you wish to maintain good health for life, you may discover colon hydrotherapy to be greatly beneficial in the prevention, treatment, and relief of many common health ailments.

Your Colon

The colon (large intestine) is a hollow, tube-like organ made up of a muscle structure that moves toxic materials along by a slow, waver-like motion known as peristaltic action. Use of laxatives weakens these muscles, creating dependency. From the beginning of the large intestine (cecum) to the rectum, it is approximately 5-1/2 feet to 6-feet in length. When a person is constipated, the walls of the colon are generally packed or lined with accumulated feces. This causes extended periods of intestinal overloading by failure to respond to the immediate call of nature. In this condition, the colon can neither absorb nor eliminate properly. Blood from this system circulates through every organ in the body and reaches every cell. To properly clean the body tissue, we must start by a thorough cleansing of the bowel. It took time to pollute our bodies to the point of disease, so it also takes time to reverse this process through a series of internal cleansings.

The colon is inhabited by bacteria, parasites, and other organisms. The immune system can be fortified in a clean body that has less toxic material.

The relationship between the colon and the rest of the body

  • The average person is carrying several pounds of dried fecal matter impacted in the colon as a result of eating flour, meat, fat, dairy products, sugar, alcohol, and preservatives.
  • Average food transit time in a healthy colon is 18 to 24 hours. We have seen clients who have bowel movements only every two to seven days! Even once a day may indicate constipation, depending on food consumption.
  • In America, over two million people per year are diagnosed with colon disease. Remember, cancer of the colon is second to heart disease as the most frequent cause of death today and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is on the rise.

Cleansing and rebuilding a poorly functioning colon is one of the most important steps you can take to greatly reduce the risk of colon cancer and achieve an improved state of health.

Surprisingly, healthy elimination should be within one to two hours after eating. If you eat three to five times a day, your bowel should move accordingly. Bowel movements once a day, or every two or three days, is considered normal in America. This is common, but it is insufficient to maintain health.

Foul-smelling stool and gas are also danger signs. The healthy color of your stool is golden brown and has minimal odor. During constipation, you may observe a darkening of the stool. This is caused by the longer transition time in your system with residues laying your colon for more than 12 hours. The result is that the colon will distribute the poisons into your bloodstream and every organ of your body, which is called toxemia or autointoxication.

We indulge in daily routines and they are direct causes of constipation. There are three habits working against Mother Nature.

  • First is eating refined and processed foods. They do not provide quality energy to our cellular structure and to the organs responsible for the elimination of waste matter.
  • Second is neglecting to stop everything we are doing to answer the call of nature.
  • Third is not drinking enough water. We should drink enough water to equal half our weight in ounces daily. Water should be consumed one-half hour before meals or two hours after eating – not during meals – or digestive juices become diluted.

A toxic bowel is the source of many health problems. Colon cleansing is a valuable procedure that activates the body’s self-healing process by washing down the old, toxic mucus lining of the bowel, thereby allowing a more efficient means of waste elimination and nutrient absorption. Both are essential to any lasting rejuvenation process. This is also the first step toward normalizing the colon so that friendly bacteria can return to keep the colon safe from putrefaction

What to Expect

Persons who have never received a colon hydrotherapy session may be fearful or embarrassed to receive one. This is because they do not know what to expect.

The average session takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The rectal speculum, water line, and waste hose are disposable. A series of water filters and an ultraviolet light insure the highest water quality and safety. The low pressure colon hydrotherapy instrument meets FDA standards and is a very gentle procedure. This is a closed system. This means that fecal matter being released flows directly through the waste hose into a view tube in the instrument and on into the sewer. There is no odor involved. The entire procedure takes place while the client is lying comfortably on a massage table, wearing a nice, long gown and covered by a drape.

Abdominal massage, acupressure, and reflexology may also be employed during the session to help loosen fecal matter and promote peristalsis.

As old, unhealthy fecal matter leaves the colon, the opportunity for the growth of important friendly bacteria increases. A supplement of friendly flora is often helpful.

Colon hydrotherapy is essential in establishing balance in our bodies for improved health. Most clients need more than one session. It usually takes six to ten sessions to re-establish balance. To maintain that balance, periodic ‘tune-ups’ may be in order.

Do I Need Internal Cleansing?

Do you experience any of the following signals regularly?

  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Need for laxatives
  • Frequent headaches
  • Skin problems
  • Lower back pain
  • Lowered resistance to infection
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Irritability
  • Edema/Swelling
  • Bloating and indigestion
  • Bad breath
  • Asthma/Sinus problems
  • Food allergies
  • Overweight/underweight
  • Lack of sexual response
  • Menstrual problems
  • Loss of memory
  • Depression
  • General aches and pains
  • Yeast infections
  • Athletes foot or jock itch

If above list is meant only to indicate some of the symptoms of autointoxication. It is safe to say that anyone who has been on a Basic American Diet will benefit from periodic internal cleansing, especially if you live in an urban area, where pollutants are high.
